One storm, multiple personalities. The same system which spawn two tornadoes in Oregon and 90+mph wind gusts in 4 states, forced temperatures to a record 102 degrees in Oklahoma and 101 degrees in Texas out ahead and on the backside? dumped 16-24″ of snow!

…RECORD-SHATTERING DAY ACROSS THE TEXAS AND OKLAHOMA PANHANDLES…
New record high temperatures were set at all three of the ASOS
(Automated Surface Observing System) climate sites in the Texas
Panhandle on October 16, 2016.
A new record high temperature of 98 degrees set in Amarillo today.
This breaks the old record of 91 which was set in 1991.
A new record high temperature of 101 degrees was set in Borger
today. This breaks the old record of 91 which was set in 1991.
A new record high temperature of 96 degrees was set in Dalhart
today. This breaks the old record of 90 which was set in 1991.
EACH OF THESE DAILY RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURES WAS ALSO A RECORD HIGH
FOR OCCURRING SO LATE IN THE SEASON.
In Amarillo, the previous latest calendar day for 98 degrees to be
reached was in 2000 when 99 degrees was reached on October 3, 2000,
13 days earlier on the calendar.
In Borger, the previous latest calendar day for 101 degrees to be
reached was when 101 degrees was reached on September 14, 2015, a
full 32 days earlier on the calendar.
In Dalhart, (until yesterday`s record high of 96) the previous
latest calendar day for 96 degrees to be reached was when 96 degrees
was reached on October 3, 2000.
The new record of 101 at Borger sets a new monthly record high for
October. The old record had been 100, which was set on October 3,
2000.
The new record of 96 at Dalhart ties the monthly high record for
October.
