US: Early Thoughts On May & June 2015

Written by on April 19, 2015 in Spring 2015, United States of America with 0 Comments

We know the rest of April is looking cool to very cool compared to normal but for quite a while now the CFSv2 has had it pretty warm for May across the majority of the Lower 48. However BOTH the weeklies and monthly has it looking much cooler with only the Pacific Northwest up through western Canada into Alaska warmer than normal.

ECMWF shows at least snow flakes in the air across a much bigger area than you’d expect for late April.

Monthly (temps)

A lot may be down to the amount of precip expected.

June too looks very wet or even wetter across a very big area. This is sure to dampen down temps.

The lack of heat will reflect the wet pattern well if it comes true.

This is very fitting of the El Nino developing. Check out the global (weekly) above and below average precip. Dry over tropical-maritime Asia, wetter further east!
