While a lot of attention is on the Eastern chill, let’s not forget the significance of the Southwest heat.
Another day of 90s with some approaching 100 over Southern California as of this writing.
Drought and abnormally warm offshore waters makes me think that this early season heat wave may be a sign of something greater come the warm season. A heat wave comparable to 2006 perhaps when we had similarly warm water lapping the California coast which tempered the daily back and forth cycle of the May grey and June gloom (marine layer).
Los Angeles, Bakersfield and San Diego break all-time records for most 90s/80s in March.

CFSv2 weeklies see the west warmth/east cold in a distinct way this week. Holds it in a weaker form week 2 and then sees a warming trend into weeks 3-4.
