Coldest night of season in store for UK before next barrage of wind and rain rolls in Friday
UK’s coldest low of -6.1C set at Redesdale Camp, Northumberland may be beaten tonight
While the latest system pushes northeastwards into Norway having produced an 86 mph wind gust to Shetland at 10 this morning, a bubble of high pressure in between Atlantic storms will allow clear skies, light winds and with a cooler air mass in place, frost and the coldest night of the season is likely for many.
While it’s a chilly, frosty night in many areas, the next system will begin to affect western areas with increasing cloud, wind and rain moving in by morning. Over the course of Friday, rain moves east and winds will pick up.
