Tuesday (below) was a notably cool late July day for Scotland and barely average for the rest of the UK in what’s likely to be the UK’s coolest since 2012.
Wednesday wasn’t a whole lot better.
However, we have potentially our strongest surge of summer heat on the way and not because of a big pattern shift but more the positioning of Atlantic low pressure and continental high pressure which will allow some very warm air over Spain and France to lift north into the UK.
It’s an ‘in between weather fronts’ deal with our next system quickly replacing the one day hot spell for Scotland, 2 days for south and east England. Winds briefly turn from the current nippy NW to toasty SE.
