It’s been a record fast start to the 2020 Atlantic Hurricane Season and we have just seen the 1st US hurricane landfall of the year.
Hurricane Hanna rapidly strengthened from borderline Cat 1 to near Cat 2 / 90 mph storm as it made landfall on Padre Island at 5pm ET on Saturday 25 July 2020.
Hanna is first Texas July hurricane since Dolly 2008 and the strongest July hurricane to strike Texas since Claudette in 2003. It’s also the first to hit Texas overall since Harvey 2017 according to Phil Klotzbach.
