After a late August hot spell in which Glasgow topped 28.5C, September has a turn to wetter times for Northwest Europe and something drier for Iberia.
Here are the September temp anomaly across Europe.
October so far! As you can see it’s been much cooler, especially for central and northern Europe. Rainfall has been significant.
Why so wet? SW winds crossing a warm ocean leads to increased rainfall.
The first half of the month has been very unsettled. The CFSv2 has been spot on with it’s 500mb height anomaly.
While several sites across the UK has observed rain every day this month and for some, each of the last 25 days, there are signs of high pressure trying to build in ‘periodically’. This shall allow for colder, frostier nights.
As we head for late month, there are also hints of something colder.
