Europe feeling like February this weekend but May by Easter weekend!

Cold easterlies blowing straight out of Scandinavia made much of the UK and Western Europe feel more like late February this weekend with many failing to see 10C and wind chills stuck in low single figures.

Today’s surface pattern shows how our air originated in Russia.

Here were today’s highs across Europe. Most were well below normal.

Notice how the cold stops at the Pyrenees though.

However, the very same high delivering the current cold shall deliver our warmest weather of the year by mid and late week.
