First -50F on it’s way to Alaska while Lower 48 warms?

Written by on December 6, 2018 in United States of America with 0 Comments

As we head into mid December the pattern is shifting. After the weeks of warmth up in Alaska and cold across much of the Lower 48, we about to see a switch with +AO/NAO.

The big flip comes this weekend into next week as heights crash over AK/N Pacific while Pacific winds begin to sweep milder ocean air across the country. We could see the first -50F with this colder pattern returning to AK.

Note the shift in 5-day means between 1-5 and 8-14 day period.
