A major November cold outbreak is descending over the US as of this writing with snow breaking out as the polar front sweeps south.

My November outlook was warm and so that looks to be a bust given the intensity, coverage and duration of this early season arctic outbreak.
In the next couple of days I will look at the details, for example how cold will it get and how much snow and where. The next 6-10 days will set new cold records and could bring some of the coldest November air in many a year to parts of the Central and interior East.
Note the trough expanding south in the 1-10 day.
These are the 5-day mean temps.
GFS snowfall over the next 10 days.
I shall have more detail tomorrow. Stay tuned!
