An early heat wave has set new May records. Shanghai topped 36.4C surpassing the previous May record of 35.5C set in 1963. In Shanghai’s western suburbs, the thermometer hit 38C, never seen before in May.

Incredibly, the city of Lishui (Zhejiang), surpassed both it’s May and June record with 40.1C. The previous May record was 39C. The June record is 39.6C which indeed still stands.
