Beast From The East 2.0: Very Impressive Cold For 3pm on March 17th

A lot of focus is on today and tomorrow’s snow threat, particularly for southern parts. However, you don’t get much of a bigger shock to the system you the southern UK has seen in the last 24 hours. From 12-14C widely yesterday at 3pm to a degree either side of freezing and a wind chill of -4 to -8C. That difference is one thing but the level of chill blanketing the UK is rather amazing for March 17th.

The GFS remains adamant that the south is where the heaviest snows shall be over the next 48 hours but anywhere in the east and central areas could see 1-2 inches even at sea level.
