Up until yesterday, the Minneapolis snow season 2017-18 has been pathetic with the biggest snowstorm being just over 3 inches. Then came yesterday’s 12.4 inch dump. This was the biggest single day snow for the city in 7 years.
12.4" at MSP yesterday – as far as I can tell it was the greatest single-day snowfall since December 11, 2010, when 16.3" fell in the Twin Cities. Check out these amounts, and the snowfall gradient that set up right over MSP: https://t.co/bHEBQuVunx pic.twitter.com/l3WC0mCuQa

How does Monday's snowstorm compare to past events? The 12.4" of snow measured at MSP Airport was the biggest 1-day snowfall in January since 1982, and was the biggest snowstorm in the Twin Cities since February 2011. #mnwx #minneapolis #stpaul #snow pic.twitter.com/yPyxgo0NyI

Updated snowfall totals for the winter of 2017-2018. The snowstorm on Monday brought the Twin Cities and Eau Claire closer to normal, but St. Cloud remains around 10" below normal this season. #mnwx #wiwx pic.twitter.com/4nNFJsgvjS

Unfortunately, this snowpack gets shrunk as 40-degree air moves in from the south.
The arctic air returns late this weekend/early next week but followed quickly by yet another mild surge but it looks like a more substantial arctic air mass dives south in time for next weekend’s super bowl.
Enjoy your warm up right now cause arctic cold is loading up to make a return in February just in time for Groundhog's Day and the Superbowl in Minneapolis.https://t.co/IIz15uO0C0 pic.twitter.com/EK71YJqSwB
