Poor driving conditions once again this evening on the M74 between Happendon and Abington services.
Plenty of gritters out on network as Amber weather warning hits.
Advice remains: Avoid travel between 3pm – 10pm within Amber warning area.
If your journey is absolutely essential, leave extra time, plan ahead, be well equipped & drive to conditions.

This was the scene on the A9 heading north near Carrbridge on Wednesday.
The last 48 hours has very much seen sunshine followed by a near whiteout. Totals have really mounted up over the Southern Uplands and central Highlands. 38cm lies at Tulloch Bridge.

Meanwhile, back on Wednesday a major unnamed Atlantic low crossed the central swathe of the UK bringing 70-80 mph winds to parts of Wales, Midlands and Southern England with a peak gust of 93 mph at Capel Curig.
However, this storm continued deepening on it’s speedy journey into the near continent. Named Storm Friederike on the continent, this system generated very powerful, damaging winds.

Looks we we turn milder Sunday on into Monday as lows and a SW flow returns.
Before we get there, tomorrow is the last chilly but thankfully bright day.
Will be interesting to see how cold it gets under clear skies and widespread deep snow cover tonight and tomorrow night.
Looking messy Sunday!
Milder next week!
