You know by now that the Eastern US just shivered through it’s coldest first week of January in recorded history, now it’s all about the warmth which quickly follows but on the horizon we have more arctic air on the way.
Unfortunately with these rapid thaws come with flooding and ice jams. The thing is it’s a short lived push of mild.
As the warmth lifts north (East) so the cold dives south behind it (Plains) and in between we’ve got a snow and ice event to contend with.
Nice fresh carpet of white for the arctic express to run along!
Ahead of the arctic boundary expect record warmth and a sudden 25 to 35 degree drop behind.
Wouldn’t this be interesting, 60 degrees near Cape Cod while it’s single digits in NY state.
So, it’s a mild front 5 days for East followed by cold 6-10 and then the beginning of a more prolonged mild pattern which likely takes us into February.
