US: It’s been a very cool 1st half to August, but is it likely to continue?

There’s no question, it’s been a cool or very cool 1st half to August for the majority of the Lower 48 especially from Denver to New York as seen from the below temp anomaly map.

Question is can we pull back summer before entering fall?

CFSv2 weeklies indicate building warmth across the Northern Tier weeks 1-2 before a cool pool forms and expands weeks 3-4.

As for the GFS ensemble, it indicates cool covering much of the rockies and plains and warm east. A subtle flip to warm days 6-10 before cool returns to the east in the day 11-15.
