Following the 3rd driest spring and 2 years of below average rainfall, Italy’s drought continues to worsen and has now forced the government to switch off fountains across Rome including those of St Peter’s Square.
Parts of mainland Italy, Sicily and Sardinia have seen rivers dry up while forests suffer fire.
Italy isn’t alone in this summer’s drought and wildfire problem.

Despite the worsening drought, severe weather has brought amazing scenes and large hail accumulation to some beaches.
