It’s a rough Friday from SW England up through Wales, NW England and SW Scotland thanks to a fairly deep, tightly wound July low spinning almost stationary over Ireland. Trapped by surrounding high pressure, the same ‘western’ areas are likely to get a beating for much of the day while further east and north it’s drier, brighter and therefore warmer. Feeling considerably raw in the wind and rain though.
Through the weekend it shall remain cool and unsettled with a blustery sunshine and shower regime for most although it looks like NORTHERN Scotland may fair best with more sun than showers while widespread showers could merge into longer spells of rain over parts England and Wales.
By the end of Sunday our pesky low shall be over the near continent and behind it, high pressure settles our weather down through the first half of next week. It’s a tail of two halves kind of week though as an additional two lows move in Wednesday followed by Friday bringing further spells of wind and rain followed by more blustery showers.
