After we recorded the warmest day of the year on 3 consecutive days, two of which was set at Hampton Water Works with 32.1 and 32.5C respectively, Scotland witnessed a cooling trend through Monday and last night turned decidedly chilly.
Cardiff witnessed their warmest June day in 22 years yesterday with 30C (86F).
As for this morning, folks across the South stepped out the door in shorts or wishing they had shorts with a sultry 20C around London while parts of Scotland woke to jacket weather and may have even needed an ice scraper with Tulloch Bridge dipping to 0.0C.
32/33C expected around the Bristol area this afternoon.
With high pressure stretched out over Scotland and an increased easterly flow off the North Sea, there’s a considerably fresher day in store to the east of the Pennines. A good 10-15C lower than yesterday!
Tomorrow could well threaten the UK June record.
While many eyes will be on thermometers across the West Country, further north it will be on the skies as hot, humid air collides with cooler, fresher Atlantic air which triggers heavy thundery downpours across Scotland and N England Wednesday afternoon. By late afternoon and evening, potentially violent thunderstorms are expected to break out across England and Wales.
