Repetative Pattern Presents Another Brief Warm Surge For SE Britain This Weekend

It’s a very repetitive pattern with Atlantic giving way to blocking high pressure. High pressure holds firm over the UK to end the week but change comes this weekend as the Atlantic returns. With it comes another pre-frontal warm surge as winds turn southerly. Again, it’s mainly England/Wales which truly benefits.

As the trough and jet digs west of Ireland, so the air over Spain and France gets lifted into the UK but a front crossing Scotland stops the warmth from reaching all but the Scottish borders.

Behind the front, the air mas is much clearer and fresher with the return of northwest winds and brief frost Tue AM.

Looks like we’re in a N-S split early next week with low pressure to the north, high pressure to the south with a fair amount of rain piling into western upslopes of Scotland. However, mid and late week sees HP build to our west and with LP over the North Sea, we’re under a cool northerly.
