The 2016-17’s first major winter storm certainly lived up to the billing. With record warmth flooding the country ahead of the storm and caused by the storm, to a significant blast of snow then cold. It wiped out record 70-80F warmth and dropped temperatures 25-35 degrees within 24 hours from Colorado to Vermont.
Denver, CO went from a record 80 degrees to heavy snow the next! Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, PA did similar with 70 degrees during the afternoon to 33 and 3 inches of snow that same night!
Yup, a cold Monday morning following the storm. It dipped to 3 degrees in Grand Marais, MN this morning.

Strong wind gusts were reported and snow drifts approached three feet Friday morning in Morris, Minnesota. Whiteout conditions were reported in many areas including along Interstate 29 in Richland County, North Dakota and near McCauleyville, Minnesota.
The combination of wet snow and high winds caused power outages across sections of western Minnesota on Friday.
