HOTTEST SEPTEMBER DAY SINCE 1973? TYPICAL WEATHER RESUMES BY WEEKEND!

Written by on September 12, 2016 in Rest of Europe, Summer 2016, United Kingdom & Ireland with 0 Comments

With twin lows near Iberia and Ireland and a powerful upper level ridge over Europe, a steamy SE air flow means we’re drawing unusually warm air unusually far north by mid-September straight from the tropics. Temperatures will reach exceptional September levels across France into the southern, eastern British Isles. Hot today over France, tomorrow it’s England’s turn where 32C is possible. The record for September by the way is 31.6C recorded at Gatwick Airport back in 1961.

The frontal boundary separating the high from low will be close enough to bring cloud, rain and gusty winds to much or Ireland and Northern Ireland as well as WESTERN/NORTHERN Scotland but further east, expect 21-25C from Moray down through Aberdeenshire, Tayside, Fife and Borders and further south 24C+ is widespread.

GFS surface for Tuesday.

Normal proceedings return by late weekend as low pressure returns to a more NW position bringing winds in off the Atlantic.
