FROM AUTUMN GALES THIS WEEKEND TO SPANISH SURGE OF SUMMER NEXT WEEK!

Written by on August 20, 2016 in Rest of Europe, Summer 2016, United Kingdom & Ireland with 0 Comments

It’s a rather autumnal open to the weekend across Ireland and the UK with gusts south of the low pressure centre widely in the 30-50 mph range and up to 63 mph on the Welsh Irish Sea coast. Wave heights of nearly 20ft have been recorded on the K2 buoy off Ireland.

This highly Atlantic driven pattern has two moods and while grumpy this weekend, after it takes it’s pills tomorrow and Monday, the sun and some real heat should make a return Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday next week.

Low pressure dominates the weekend but the good news is Sunday looks drier, brighter and should be less windy compared to today as the system slowly exits into the North Sea.

Significant surge of summer next week?

Get ready! The UK as well as Europe are in store for some major late summer heat next week as the next deepening Atlantic low holds back and pumps the ridge and heat north from Africa.

Cloudy, rainy spells for Scotland/northern England but south of the front we’re talking major warmth and humidity where Paris could see a couple of days in the 30s.

I also wanted to show you in today’s write-up the up and down fluctuation in SSTA’s surrounding the UK and rebound in the last 7 days compared to the cooling seen in the previous 7 days.

Looks like lows will continue to lift up from the south later next week and into the weekend dragging warm, humid air north with them.

Warm, humid air over warmer than normal waters in an unstable environment supports heavy flooding rainfall and frequent thunderstorms.

Back with more Monday!
