This week’s mess with widespread and frequent showers and thunderstorms thanks to low pressure directly overhead will fade into the weekend. Showers perhaps linger over eastern parts of the UK through Saturday morning as the low pressure departs. A brief spell of fine and much more settled conditions provide a decent Saturday thanks to the brief visit of high pressure but the next Atlantic front is never far away.
France hasn’t had it easy lately. In stark contrast to last year’s drought and heat, the French Open of the last 2 weeks was somewhat of a washout and now with Euro 2016, showers have been frequent and energetic with flooding downpours and dramatic lightning displays. Even hail temporarily disrupted the Ukraine v Northern Ireland match in Lyon yesterday.
Here’s Saturday’s expected conditions across the UK and Europe according to the GFS. Largely fine and dry for UK and Ireland but showers continue across much of France, big wind maker in the Baltic Sea!
Despite sunshine, maximum temperatures are average to slightly below average for June 18.
For dad’s day itself, the morning is the time to do any outdoor activity as the weather goes down hill midday on with a band of cloud, rain and increased wind pushing in from west to east.
Sunday’s maximum temps should be warmer in the South thanks to bright or sunny spells and a southwest air flow. Further north, much the same as Saturday.
