Low Pressure To Dominate The Rest Of June As Predicted

Many whom have been drawn into a false sense of security with the prolonged spell of warm, sunny weather to end May and begin June will be sorely disappointed at how this pattern has turned and is likely to hold. Low pressure remains dominant through this work week with laden skies across NI and Scotland and where the sun has been shining, showers and storms have been quite widespread and torrential. Looks as though we catch a break late this week on through at least the first half of the weekend before more Atlantic fronts swing in next week, taking aim at Northern Ireland and Scotland initially.

EPS Control 5-day means show that now the trough is back, it’s reluctant to give up ground through the rest of June.

England and Wales will be the place to avoid the worst of the cloud, breeze, rain and cool NEXT week as high pressure weakens incoming Atlantic fronts from the NW.

The question is do we get further spells of warm sunny weather for more than 3-5 days through mid July because I do feel once this pattern turned, it turned. In the coming days I’ll be taking my first real look at July.

High Pressure & Warmth Warms To Surrounding UK Waters

As well as the ENSO transitions, another part of my motivation behind another ‘disappointing summer’ is now showing in the SSTA’s. Note the warming of waters surrounding the UK thanks to ridging in recent weeks, this good weather could be part reasonable for the poorer weather down the road as warmth can enhance lows and precipitation while highs tend to feed off cooler than normal waters (central North Atlantic).
