Today marks the official start to meteorological summer and the Atlantic Hurricane season 2016. As you would expect, the tropics are quiet but not silent with NHC highlighting an area of disturbed weather Central America. In recent days, models have been picking up on developing either over the western Caribbean or Gulf.

If this thing happens to develop, it will be interesting to know when the last time we’ve seen 3 named storms before June 15th. Also Bonnie was the 143rd consecutive tropical cyclone to hit the US below major hurricane status. The record continues with Wilma in 2005 being the last.

Meanwhile TX continues to receive flooding rains.
