Gertrude Shows Wintry Side After Damage & Disruption Of Yesterday, First Time Sledging For Holly

Yesterday saw the stormy, wicked side of Gertrude and today sees the wintry side as colder air flows across the Northern UK in it’s wake. Today will remain very windy, cold and snowy at times with frequent gusty showers rattling through.

Heavy and blustery snow showers will continue to blow NW to SE across Scotland through the rest of today but a front drifting in from the SW will bring initially snow then rain with milder air behind during tomorrow.

Strongest Winds For Shetland In 16 Years

Shetland which was under a red wind warning yesterday as they experienced a gust of 105 mph at both Lerwick and Baltasound. Strongest gust for Shetland since Jan 3, 2000.

Windy for many today but as per usual Cairngorm Summit is in a different league with gusts of 111 mph being recorded this morning.

Storm Henry Named And Just Leaving Canada En-Route To UK

A system currently departing Newfoundland is now catching a ride on a powerhouse 200kt jet and has been named Storm Henry, expected to be just north of Scotland by early Tuesday bringing more storm-force wind and rain.
