There’s no question, the warmth building from the Front Range to East Coast is mighty impressive. While countless daily records will fall, we may well see some all-time December highs and lows threatened if notĀ fall too.

Check out the day by day 2m temperature anomalies off the GFS.

Then the true Arctic-Siberian air that’s been gathering in the far north in recent weeks pile drives south into the West… Note the strong warm surge ahead of it starting in the Plains and winds up on the East Coast bringing more record warmth!

It’s still quite a ways out and the GFS tends to overdo cold but this is very interesting to see the model go from widespread 15-25, locally 30-35 above normal to 15-25, locally 30-35 below normal in the very same region.

Here’s those 2m temps in the coming days and the slap in the face shown to arrive just prior to Christmas.

As the arctic high sinks down the Plains, there is some ridiculously warm AM temps briefly on the East Coast ahead of theĀ polar front.
