Written by on July 31, 2015 in Asia, Summer 2015 with 0 Comments

Within the past 10 days, I posted an article on the gruelling heat wave torturing Iraq. As expected, yet another surge of extreme heat is bringing temperatures widely above 120F, forcing the government to issue it’s second ‘heat holiday’.

This holiday, like the last is due to the combination of high temperature, frequent power cuts, water shortages and lack of air conditioning. Not forgetting the 3 million Iraqi’s displaced by the ongoing conflict, many of which live within oven-like tents.

At Nassirya Airport, the all-time record is higher, at 127.4 degrees Fahrenheit, or 53 degrees Celsius, Herrera’s weather records website states.
