NORTHWEST EUROPE: Colder-Than-Average May & June Followed By Warmest Open To July On Record?

Written by on July 4, 2015 in Summer 2015, United Kingdom & Ireland with 0 Comments

It’s been a rather fascinating weather pattern in recent weeks. Remember back to the start of June when it was unseasonably cool, wet and windy with winds feeling more like March. We also experienced rare frosts in places with days were the jacket was needed. We ended the very same month complete opposite. Highs 5-10C above, not below normal. June’s final day ended with a high of 32C. However July opened with 36.7C.

Yesterday’s temperature anomaly. Heat core is focused mainly over NE France and Low Countries today compared to Thursday.

By mid-June there was rumors of this being the coldest June in 40 years. It may have been had it not dramatically warmed up in the months final week. Of course July opened with the hottest ‘July day’ on record for the UK and check out the anomaly for the opening 3 days of the month. Warmest on record? Maybe.
