There’s quite the contrast currently between the Upper Midwest and East Coast. Both in very different air masses right now. Cool, dry Canadian air has allowed temps to fall into the 20s this morning from Minnesota into Michigan’s UP while it’s a summery 70s up the East Coast following daytime mid to upper 80s yesterday.

A frontal boundary separating the two air masses slides east today bringing a real soaking to the East Coast. This will not just bring much needed rain but will cut temps big time. By as much as 30 degrees from Saturday to Monday.
Temps have dropped well into the 20s this morning with a 23 over the UP of Michigan, 24 over the Arrowhead of Minnesota.
GFS surface shows the cool high dropping over the Great Lakes and driving out the heavy rains down in Texas but also pushes the heavy rains east into the dry and steamy East.
A widespread 2-3, locally 5 inches is expected over the Northeast Sunday.
GFS 2 metre temps Sunday

Note the increase in moisture over South Florida next 7 days.
