Colder Pattern Brings The Return Of Snow To UK Hills/Mountains

You’ll notice the difference out there today as patiently waiting weather systems begin to move in. Why such a change? We’ve lost over 24mb in pressure and so there’s no resistance in holding back surrounding weather. Today marks the change with cloudier skies and some shower activity but it’s not till Saturday that the atmosphere truly breaks down as high pressure it out of the way, allowing lows to move in.

As we head through the weekend, so showers and longer spells of rain spread across the UK. Saturday into Sunday a front, producing heavier rain will sink south and it’s this that introduces arctic air back into our weather pattern.

Sunday into Monday sees cold northerly winds along with a drop in snow levels.

THIS WILL BE A HIGH GROUND EVENT but if your travelling Scotland’s high road routes such as the A9 and A82, expect to see some snow and potential is there for tricky driving conditions.

Wind, rain, cold and hill snow will be a common factor to the upcoming 7 day period. We will see the return of 985 to 995mb lows that could bring gale-force wind conditions, reinforcing the chill as high pressure will be positioned to the NW and low pressure to our east.

GFS surface through the next 7 days.
