The parade of quick hitting lows this weekend appears to mark a shift to colder in our weather pattern next week. The ECMWF and GFS north build heights north over the Atlantic and thus winds blow hard out of the NW across the UK/Ireland and much of continental Europe.

Reinforcing waves of abnormally cold air blowing straight from Greenland will make for highs only in single figures with at or below freezing wind chills. Not the kind of Easter and open to April many would have hoped for. Normal are closer to 8-14C by now. Next week, look for 5-11C with snow showers possible.
Here’s the latest ECMWF surface charts through next week into next weekend.
Notice the final chart for Easter Sunday has a high NW of the UK which means cold NE winds blow in.
GFS has a near identical solution to the above ECM but has a more southerly positioned high Easter weekend and therefore less chilly.
Interesting to see BOTH ECMWF and GFS expanding and intensifying the cold day 5-10. Mind these are 5-day MEAN 2m temps/anomalies.
