There is strong indications that winter is beginning to show as mild, moist Atlantic air hits cold air that’s building over north, northeast Europe.

Most of Siberia is already white and this will only expand in the coming weeks as cold expands and matures south.
We have a HUGE low currently taking up the majority of the North Atlantic Ocean with central pressure down into the 950s. It’s associated fronts will spread wind and rain across Ireland and the UK in sporadic form Wednesday on but new lows will form and push across the UK late week into the weekend.
Check out the shear size of this low on the MeteoEarth windstream chart.
It will also act as a giant heat pump, drawing on near ‘tropical’ air and shoving up all the way up into Southeast England. Expect highs of 21-23C around London Friday or Saturday!
Notice in the below surface charts that by the end of the week, the isobars streaming into the UK from the SW can be very near traced all the way back to the tropics, even beyond the Azores! Also notice the very low heights representing significant cold that’s diving into the NE portion of the continent.
The below 850mb charts show the warmth lifting north while cold dives south next 5-7 days. Unusual mild vs unusual cold with potential for significant snowfall over NW Russia, Baltics and possibly Scandinavia and Poland.
Interesting to see the GFS operational and ensemble showing a west to east ATLANTIC flow into Western Europe day 7-16 which means mild and wet!

Yes, especially late Oct and Nov. Just look at that low over the N Atlantic.
With the growing contrasts between warm and cold air I will say there is potential for a stormy period, Mark?
