Short post tonight given that I was taking today off.
However, it’s been an impressive weekend of weather across the US. From record heat in California with the warmest day at Morro Bay (100) since 1989 to Chicago getting their 2nd earliest snow on record.
In terms of those snow reports around Chicago, Saturday morning’s reports marked this (Oct 4) the 3rd earliest snow on record. Records date back to 1884. Yesterday also witnessed a record low maximum of 47.
This morning’s national lows.
Thermometer fell to 30 as far south as Blairsville, Georgia
40 at Crestview, Florida.
Here are some Southern California record highs from yesterday.
Fillmore 107 (national high)
Santa Barbara 104
Woodland Hills 104
Van Nuys 103
Heavy snow expected tonight through tomorrow over Manitoba and NW Ontario.
500mb height anomalies across the country bringing the record CA heat and Eastern cold and for some, snow.
