HIGH PRESSURE rules the remainder of this week with very little rain except for isolated, heat-induced thunderstorms. If there’s a week to take your summer holidays and stay in the UK, this is it!
The models are adamant at holding back a front that’s off the West Coast till at least LATE Saturday into Sunday. Expect widespread inland highs of 22 to 27, locally 30 or 31C. If you don’t like it too warm, head for the coast, particularly the North Sea coast where cloud and haar may linger, holding temperatures at 16 to 18C.
A sun zone extends from southern France up through the Low Countries, Denmark and Scandinavia (incl UK) with highs 4-8C above normal.
The system which helped generate the UK storms of last weekend will affect south-central Europe in a big way this week. Flooding likely for some.

The blip appears to be late weekend as the front that sits potentially off Scotland, appears to eventually break the ridge, however as you look through the below surface maps, notice how the system manages to get over the UK but takes the same route as the previous into the heart of Europe, only to be following by another ridge which comes up from the Azores. The MEAN ridge core holds strong over the Norwegian Sea through the next 10 days.
Here’s the latest ECMWF surface through the rest of this week.
Uh oh! Here is comes…. LATE WEEKEND though.
Into next week, but does it last?
According to ECMWF that rain, like what we have seen this past weekend, dives SE into Italy and the central Med, check out the ridge resurging into the UK in the wake of the system!
ECMWF 500mb height anomalies day 3-10.

What a summer we’re having eh. How’s August looking on the CFSv2?
Pretty much identical to June and July…
If your interested in the long range stuff and winter, please please read yesterday’s post and the video which was cut yesterday/published this morning. Should be of interest to you. Very exciting next few months ahead and big forecast test coming.
BTW, have you seen the latest CFSv2 for January?
Wow! Talk about the rubber band of warmth snapping… From one extreme to the other…
