Impressive storms blew up bang on schedule yesterday across a broad area of Western Europe from the Republic of Ireland to Germany.
The strongest storms erupted over the near continent with supercells impacting Belgium. Those supercells produced large hail which interrupted the friendly between Belgium and Tunisia.
Here was the scene once players were taken off the pitch in Brussels yesterday afternoon.

Severe Potential For France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany This Afternoon
Upper chart (below) shows the big hot dome centred over the heart of the continent with the front sitting right over NE France and the Low Countries. It’s where that front sits, that’s where the biggest storms will once again blow up this afternoon as temps climb into the upper 20s and low 30s.

UK, near continent dew points (F)
With the front edging in from the North Sea and running over top of this very warm, juicy air mass, expect more damaging winds, flooding rains and golf to tennis ball sized hail as well as an odd funnel or tornado. Target areas will be parts of NE France, east Belgium, Netherlands and Germany.
Where CAPE is highest, that’s where the strong storms should be.
Still mixed this upcoming work week. Warm with more showers and storms.
ECMWF 7-mean 2-metre temps show continued warmth right across Europe through upcoming 7 days with easing in northeast (Russia) in day 3-10 as ridge shifts west.
See today’s video for discussion.
