WHEN WILL IT EVER END? Lows Of -25°F In Canada, Snow In Tennessee

It seems like forever that cold and record cold at that, has been mentioned. However, today is yet another and impressive it was. Lows fell to -7F at Land O’Lakes, WI. Widespread low teens along with single digits in pockets throughout the Dakotas and N Minnesota. It dropped to 18 at Minneapolis, tying a record for the date. The chill plunged all the way to Texas where it hit 35 in Dallas.

Closer look at the US. 19% is impressive given that it’s April 15th.

As well as temps dropping to freezing all the way to the Gulf Coast states this morning, snow reached Tennessee while sleet was reported as far south as Huntsville, Alabama.

Chicago Hits 63F (Warmest On Record) Before Snowing Later On The Same Day!

Not only did Chicago O’Hare’s official snow total top 1.4 inches yesterday, making it the latest inch or more since 1983 but the high of 63 is Chicago’s warmest ever for a day in which it snows!

  • Chicago officially observed 1.4″ on April 14th, bringing the seasonal total to 82.0″. For more on this 3rd snowiest season on record, see here.

THE 1.4 INCHES OF SNOW OBSERVED ON APRIL 14TH AT CHICAGO EXTENDED
THE IMPRESSIVE 2013-2014 SNOWFALL SEASON. HERE ARE SOME FACTS
REGARDING THIS LATE SEASON SNOW:

- THERE HAVE ONLY BEEN 11 OTHER CALENDAR DAYS ON OR AFTER APRIL
14TH TO HAVE AT LEAST ONE INCH OF ACCUMULATING SNOW. THE MOST
RECENT TIME WAS APRIL 16 1983. THE LATEST IS MAY 3 1907.

- THIS WAS ONLY THE 5TH TIME ON RECORD THAT CHICAGO HAD ONE INCH
OF SNOW AFTER ALREADY REACHING 80 DEGREES...WHICH THE CITY HAD
DONE ON APRIL 12TH. THE LAST TIME WAS 2003.

- THE CALENDAR DAY HIGH ON APRIL 14TH WAS 63 DEGREES AT CHICAGO
O`HARE. NEVER IN THE PERIOD OF RECORD FOR CHICAGO HAD THERE BEEN A
DAY WITH A HIGH TEMPERATURE OVER 60 DEGREES THAT ALSO HAD AT LEAST
ONE HALF INCH OF SNOW.

- CHICAGO REPORTED ONE INCH OF SNOW DEPTH ON THE MORNING OF APRIL
15TH. THERE HAVE ONLY BEEN FIVE OTHER YEARS TO HAVE AT LEAST ONE
INCH OF SNOW DEPTH ON OR AFTER APRIL 15TH. THE MOST RECENT WAS
