The models DID suggest snow once again for the Mid-Atlantic on the backside of this weekend’s big ‘rainmaker’ for the I-95 Cities. Yes, a seemingly warm system for the I-95 IS bringing snow to areas that were in the 50s and 60s yesterday. Boy, what a winter for the DC-Baltimore area…
Check out this great shot captured by Howard Bernstein of WUSA9. This was the scene at 4pm in Clarksburg, MD.
As you can see the GFS is trying to put down ACCUMULATING snow in and around the DC Metro. Amazing on two levels. How warm it’s been recently and the time of year. It’s nearly April and the sun angle is as strong now as mid-September!!

Once this thing kicks out Monday, a major storm system barrels up through the Upper Midwest.
Here’s the GFS surface by 36 hrs.
GFS snow through 48 hrs. That’s an impressive end of March snow event for the Dakotas.
ANOTHER snow system to end the workweek is poised to impact areas a couple of hundred miles southeast of the first big snow over the Upper Midwest.

That thing kicks up through the Lakes but we should watch this second system, for a threat of severe weather.
Firstly, here’s the snow according to the GFS. Decent swath just S and E of the early week system. See tonight’s US video for more of that!
ECMWF puts that second snow pretty much over top of the first snow or expands the ‘corridor’ of snow already in place.
Be sure to watch the video for more details on this week’s pattern and a look at the next few weeks.
Finally. Check out this amazing Lake Superior ice comparison from recent years! AMAZING!
