Wednesday starts off fine, dry and sunny but head into the Northwest and Western Isles and the weather is already going downhill. By mid morning heavy rain and gales will be affecting the Northwest and Isles and through the rest of the day that rain pushes right across the Western mainland bring a real soaking, driven in by a strong to gale-force SW wind. All parts later in the day will see wet and very windy conditions, severe gales in the Northwest and Isles with gusts to 70 mph. Highs 7-11C.

Thursday turns drier, brighter but it stays windy and will feel colder.

Tonight is likely to see the most widespread frost yet thanks to clear skies and light winds right across the country. Expect lows to fall towards -1 or -2C in the coldest rural spots, widely 0-2C while even towns and cities dip towards 2 or 3C.

Wednesday looks like a largely fine, dry and sunny day but it will be cool after the cold start with highs only making it to 10 or 11C at best. The only real change that comes through the day will be an increase in cloud across the North and West ahead of the next Atlantic front.

Wales

After a beautiful day for much of Wales, tonight is likely to bring the first real widespread frost as temperatures fall beneath clear skies. Lows tonight -2C in the coldest rural spots, widely 0 to 2C, 2 or 3C even in towns and cities.

Wednesday starts fine, dry and chilly but through the morning and into the afternoon, cloud increases from the north and west and eventually rain and a strong wind will spread across the country. Highs 8-12C.

Thursday will be chilly with sunshine and blustery showers, feeling cold in the strong to possibly gale-force NW wind. Highs 7-10C.

Northern Ireland

It’s a dry, mostly clear night with a frost likely away from town and city centres, lows range between -1C in the coldest rural spots to 4C in Belfast city centre.

Wednesday is looking largely fine and dry with good spells of sun to start but wind and rain spreads across the country through the late morning and afternoon, turning very windy tomorrow evening on the back edge of the front. Highs 6-9C.
