Scotland

It’s a fine, dry and pleasant start to the week and end to September with temperatures slightly above average at 17-19, locally 20C in the Northwest Highlands. Considerably cooler along the east coast with a strong SE wind keeping temperatures close to 12 or 13C. Windy for most.

Tonight is dry, mild and windy but patchy rain may spread into Dumfries and Galloway tonight. Lows of 8-12C.

Tuesday looks like another decent day, a touch cloudier and cooler with brisk SE winds continuing. Highs 15-17C.

By Wednesday a front that’s been waiting in the wings to the WSW will make inroads and bring wet weather across the country. Staying mild and windy.

England

It’s a largely decent day across England with good spells of warm sunshine, particularly in the east while always that bit cloudier in the west and especially the southwest through the afternoon where there’s a risk of a few showers. Winds will be noticeable out of the southeast pretty much everywhere and always strong along the south and east coast and here it will be coolest. Highs today range from 12C on the coast to 20C for sheltered inland areas.

Tonight will see the showers merge into a more organised band over the west Midlands extending up through Lancashire into Cumbria. Drier with clearer spells the further east you go. Lows of 8-13C.

Tuesday will see the cloud thickening in the west with spells of rain while it’s drier further east with sunshine likely over parts of Yorkshire down to East Anglia. Staying windy.

By Wednesday the rain spreads across the country as high pressure gives way to low pressure. Winds remain strong. Highs 16-20C. Potentially very heavy rain pushes into southern counties later in the day. (More detail coming later on the website)

Wales

It’s turned into a much more active pattern over Wales this week with plenty of cloud and showers dominating not just today but through the rest of this week. It remains mild though with temperatures climbing into the 16-19C range. Tonight continues with low cloud and patchy rain, staying mild, even, misty and murky with lows only falling to around 13 to 15C.

Tuesday is a repeat of today with lots of cloud and patchy rain with highs of 15-17C.

Wednesday sees heavy rain spread east through the morning but some brighter skies are likely to follow through the afternoon. Highs of 16-19C.

Northern Ireland

It’s a much cloudier, wetter but still mild week for Northern Ireland. This afternoon will be dominated by mostly cloudy skies along with outbreaks of rain or showers, especially in more southern areas, staying that bit drier, even brighter in the north. Tonight turns wetter with possibly heavy rain spreading into from the Irish Sea overnight, always that bit drier in the west. Lows stay mild at 10-13C and wind remain fresh, strong along the coast.

It’s another cloudy, showery and blustery day to come tomorrow right across the country with winds remaining strong out of the SE but at least it’s milder than it should be at 15-17C.

More wet, windy and mild weather to come Wednesday.

Ireland

It’s a cloudy but quiet start to the week across the Republic but make the most of it as large area of rain spreads north this evening and overnight with many seeing a decent soaking. The breeze remains fresh and so with all the cloud, rain and breeze, temperatures will hold up at between 10-14C.

Tuesday looks rather damp with off and on rain through much of the day. Some areas may see light rain persistent throughout much of the day. Highs of 15-17C.

Wednesday turns even wetter with an active front sweeping a band of much heavy rain north into southern areas and this works north through the day. Look out for some local flooding with this system. Highs 15-17C.
