FRI 27 SEP: UK & IRELAND WEEKEND FORECAST

Written by on September 27, 2013 in United Kingdom & Ireland with 0 Comments

Scotland

After a fairly dull, cloudy but mainly dry afternoon for most, skies will tend to clear like last night, making way for a cool night beneath the stars. Overnight lows dip to between 3-6C in rural areas to nearer 8-10C in the major towns and cities. Look out for dense fog patches in parts of the Forth Valley and other sheltered areas early on.

Rain will increase across the western and northern isles, edging into the NW mainland tonight and lingering through tomorrow but this rain stays in the far north and through Saturday it’s looking fine, dry and sunny and with light winds, temperatures will respond nicely, reaching values of between 16-20C.

Sunday isn’t looking bad either with plenty more sunshine on offer and the pesky rain bearing front that will plague the N, NW tomorrow, will be gone Sunday. The one notice difference between the two days will be the winds pick up out of the ESE and this will make it feel a touch cooler, especially along the east coast. Highs 13 or 14C along the east coast but perhaps as warm as 21C in the Northwest Highlands.

Rain moves into western areas Monday.

England

It’s a fine, dry and fairly clear evening and overnight period to come across most of England but showers will affect parts of the south coast this evening and overnight, some could be locally heavy but elsewhere it’s mainly clear and that means overnight temperatures take a refreshing dip with lows of 5-7C in rural areas, nearer 10-12C in major towns and cities.

Saturday is fine, dry and sunny and those temperatures are nothing to sniff at either for late September, highs of 16-20C but showers and a brisk east wind will make it a touch more unsettled along the south coast, southwest but perhaps an odd shower lifting into the south midlands.

A better day to come Sunday with sunshine pretty much across the board and once again, temperatures rise nicely to between 17-20C but it will be breezier out of the ESE which will be noticeable.

Turning cloudier with rain in the west come Monday.

Wales

It’s a showery end to the day across parts of Wales but these showers ease this evening making way for a clear night for some, cloudier but dry for others and so temperatures dip away to 4 or 5C locally, 8-11C more widely.

Saturday is looking very pleasant with plenty of warm sunshine on offer with just a few showers dotted around in the south through the morning but these should clear by the afternoon. Pretty much the whole country shall enjoy sunshine with highs rising to between 17-20C.

Sunday is looking equally as sunny but winds out of the east will be noticeable and pretty gusty, especially in the south. Highs again rise to between 17 and 20C.

Rain spreads in from the west Monday.

Northern Ireland

It was a mixed sort of afternoon across the country with plenty of cloud but there was also sunshine on offer too and in that sun it did feel very pleasant indeed. Through tonight and it’s once again a mix of cloud and clear spells. Where skies clear, temperatures fall to 6 or 7C but beneath the cloud it doesn’t fall much lower than 10C.

Saturday as well as Sunday is looking very pleasant with plenty of dry and sunny weather and so expect temperatures to climb to between 17-20C which is a fraction ABOVE the season average. Sunday is much the same, fine, dry and sunny but the east wind will be notice and will make it feel fresher with highs of nearer 16 or 17C.

Wetter weather pushes in during Monday.

Ireland

After a mainly cloudy but dry afternoon, tonight will continue that theme but the shower risk will increase across the south and perhaps southwest overnight. Overnight lows range from 8 to 12C.

Saturday looks mostly cloudy with a chance of some showers in the south and west but dry elsewhere and highs range between 16-20C.

On Sunday some wetter weather spreads in the south, elsewhere largely dry but ESE winds will be noticeable. Highs 16-20C.

It turns wetter for much of the country Monday.
