MON 24 JUNE: UK & IRELAND REGIONAL FORECAST

Scotland

It’s been a pleasant, albeit cool, breezy but bright or sunny afternoon with highs of 16-18C. Always feeling cooler in the breeze, Through tonight and winds fall light and beneath clear skies and cooler air aloft, it will turn chilly for late June. Lows widely down to 7 or 8C in towns and cities, nearer 2-4C in rural areas with a light grass frost possible in sheltered Glens.

Tuesday dawns sunny and crisp, setting the stage for a largely bright day but with daytime heating, expect clouds to build into the PM hours, increasing the chance for showers, especially over hills. Highs, like today, 16-18C.

More bright and sunny weather to come Wednesday, a touch warmer at 17-19, locally 20C.

England

It’s a been a cool, blustery afternoon with off and on but a big improvement compared to the past weekend. Into tonight and winds fall light, skies become largely clear and with cool air aloft, temperatures fall away to low levels for the time of year. By dawn Tuesday, many towns and cities will fall towards 9 or 10C but in rural areas, it could get down to 5-7C widely, locally 3 or 4C.

Tuesday is looking largely fine, dry and settled with cloud bubbling up through the late morning into the afternoon but these should be largely the fair weather type. Look for highs of 17-20, locally 21C.

Wednesday will see more of the same, although a touch cloudier with a slight risk of showers to the east of the Pennines. Highs of 16-21C.

Wales

Following a nasty weekend of wind, rain and cool temperatures, today marks the start of an improving pattern as ridging begins to build from the Azores. Today remains cool and breezy but drier with a mix of sun and cloud, highs between 14-17C. Tonight will see clouds thin and break, turning clear for many and with light winds, temperatures tumble to between 5-8C, lower in some rural areas.

Tuesday is looking fine, dry and bright and with lighter winds than today, temperatures should warm to between 16-19C.

Another dry, relatively warm day to come Wednesday with highs near 21C in a few spots.

Northern Ireland

Following the messy conditions of yesterday, today is a much better day with plenty of dry and bright weather with temperatures peaking at between 15-17C. Tonight will turn chilly beneath clear skies, lows dip early to between 5-9C but clouds increase later in the night, setting the stage for Tuesday morning.

Following a showery, breezy start, conditions improve into Tuesday afternoon with highs peaking at similar values to today at 15-18C.

Dry, settled and fairly warm Wednesday, highs of 16-19C.

Ireland

Today has been an improvement on yesterday and tomorrow will see even better conditions. As for this evening, it’s largely dry, bright with just an odd shower around. Through the overnight, expect a mix of cloud and clear spells with more cloud than clear. Lows dip widely to between 7-10C.

Tuesday is looking largely cloudy to start but sunshine should break through during the afternoon. Just a slight chance of a light shower here and there. Highs of 15-18C.

Sunnier on Wednesday with highs of 17-20C.
