Scotland

A brief break this afternoon from the strong wind and heavy showers from last night but tonight will see the arrival of the next Atlantic low, with pressure down into the 980s and it’s close approach to NW Scotland means gale-force winds tonight widely with severe gales to the NW.

Those strong, potentially disruptive SW winds will be accompanied by a band of heavy rain, followed by blustery, thundery showers during Tuesday. Expect gusts to 60 mph anywhere tonight but up in the Outer Hebrides and NW mainland, gusts may exceed 75 to 80 mph.

Winds turn westerly tomorrow and so gale-force winds will funnel through the Central Lowlands, may cause issues on the major north-south bridges such as the Erskine, Forth, Tay, Kessock and Skye bridges. Heavy showers will accompany those strong west winds during Tuesday.

Lows tonight range from 4-8C, highs Tuesday, a little cooler than yesterday but still mild at 10-14C.

More heavy rain and strong winds again tomorrow night with the next front.

England

It’s a largely fine end to the day across much of England with the exceptions of a few blustery showers peppering the landscape. Overnight tonight, clouds thicken from the west and winds will slowly pick up ahead of an approaching front from the Atlantic. This will be a potential trouble maker in western and northern parts through the later part of the night as winds become gale-force out of the SW. These strong winds will also be accompanied by a band of heavy rain and through Tuesday, heavy, thundery showers will follow.

The bulk of southern and eastern England should stay mostly dry and so here, the best of any brightness and warmest temps are to be had from south Yorkshire down to Kent.

The North and West, lows range from 5-8C, in the South 8-11C and Tuesday, highs rise to a still warmer than average 12-17C.

More wind and rain tomorrow night in Wednesday for western and northern parts.

Wales

It’s a decent end to your Monday across Wales and a fair start to the evening but during the overnight things go somewhat downhill as a front sweeps in from the Irish Sea and brings a spell of moderate to heavy rain right across the country, accompanied by strong to gale-force SW winds. Heavy, blustery showers follow but as Tuesday wears on, conditions improve as winds begin to ease a little and skies break.

Lows tonight stay up at 5-8C, highs tomorrow rise to between 10-14C.

Another band of heavy rain and strong SW winds push in tomorrow night.

Northern Ireland

The start of your evening will be fair with some late sunshine on offer, however through tonight, another active Atlantic front will swing an arm of heavy rain across Ulster and this will be followed by heavy showers which should ease through Tuesday. The wind will likely be the main feature of tonight and tomorrow with strong to gale-force winds for all, packing gusts to 50 or 60 mph, perhaps severe gales for the Northwest wqith gusts to 70+.

Lows tonight hold at 5-8C, highs tomorrow rise to between 10-13C.

Another batch of wet and windy weather arrives again tomorrow evening.

Ireland

It’s a rather stormy first half to your night with widespread gales which will drive pulses of heavy rain up from the southwest but through the night, rains turn more showery and eventually winds should ease down. Tuesday is looking blustery but less wild than what can be expected tonight, rain showers should also become few and the afternoon looks fairly decent with sunny spells to be had.

Make the most of a decent afternoon as more wet and windy weather returns late afternoon into the evening.

Lows tonight range from 4-7C, highs tomorrow 10-14C.
