Scotland

After a fairly damp, chilly day, tonight will be mainly dry with some rain and hill snow for the Southwest, elsewhere a mix of cloud with clear spells will allow temperatures to fall to near freezing so watch out for icy patches through the overnight. Lows near 1-3C for most. Tomorrow is largely fine, dry and settled after a chilly start with patchy mist, fog and frost around. There should be decent spells of sunshine but highs will remain rather cool at just 5-8C.

England

After a very wet and windy day for the bulk of England, through tonight the band of heavy rains and strongest winds will focus on the eastern side of the country while in the west, showers will push in from the Irish Sea. Temperatures should hold up at between 3-8C tonight but where winds are light, skies clear across parts of the Midlands, expect patchy mist or fog to form.

During Thursday, it should be a much better day with the front sweeping out into the North Sea. This will allow sunshine to return and winds should be much lighter than today. So, sunshine is to be had in the east while showers push into the west, but all in all it’s not a bad day although cool at just 6-10C.

Wales

It’s been a miserible day throughout the country with heavy, torrential rains accompanied by strong to gale-force winds, conditions significant’y improve through tonight but showers will continue to whip in on a west wind but much better than earlier. Through tomorrow and it’s very much a day of sunshine and showers. Feeling cool tonight at 3-6C and during tomorrow also with a high of only 9C.

Northern Ireland

After a wet and blustery day across Northern Ireland, tonight will see an odd shower but with lighter winds and clear skies developing quite widely, expect a frost with an odd mist or fog patch. Lows will widely be down to 0 or 2C with some spots perhaps dipping to -1 or 2.

Tomorrow and after a cold but bright start, will see a sunny first part of the day but as we progress through the afternoon, so heavy showers accompanied by a freshening west wind will cross the country. Some of these showers may be wintry, particularly over higher ground. A chilly day at 6-8C but feeling cooler than that in the wind.

Ireland

A cold night is in store for a large part of Ireland under clear skies and relatively light winds. Expect lows to widely dip to freezing with mist and fog forming.

Through tomorrow and it’s a fair day for most with showers hit or miss, it will feel chilly in the breeze. Highs will be no higher than 7 or 8C. Sleet may fall over the hills.
