Milder Air Returns Sat/Sun, Next Week Looks Unsettled.

As stated back last weekend, we would end this week with snow showers and cold weather but as quite as it hits, it would leave. Interestingly, Atlantic air will spread in during Saturday and while it won’t feel particularly warm, the cold air will get eroded and by Sunday, should be kicked on east thanks to a new system.

Wind and rain will dominate much of the UK Saturday night and throughout much of Sunday. As for next week, it’s looking like we’re back in the more unsettled theme. Chilly air will never be far away so mountain snows over Scotland can’t be ruled out but wind, rain and average temperatures look to be on the cards over the next 7 days.

Will we see a return to cold? Can’t be ruled out but remember back to my autumn forecast. A late Oct-early Nov cold spell was possible with possible snow but it’s more likely to be a rollercoaster month of November. It’s more likely to be up and down rather than sustained cold with snow like many out there believe. Anything is possible when you’ve got one of the strongest warm AMO’s and cold PDO’s.

Sorry for much a short post. Rushing out the door.

Here are the charts for next week off the ECMWF.
