Typhoon Tembin came crashing ashore in Taiwan early Friday morning packing sustained 80 mph winds and widespread 16-19 inch rains. As much as 24.6 inches of rain was reported in 20 hours in the southern town of Checheng and wind gusts were reported as high as 96 mph. The system is slow moving and so flooding and very high rain totals was a concern.
