It’s safe to say that the weather in the past 36 hours has been rather wild for some while for others it’s been quiet, sunny and warm. With a significant spin of energy off the Southwest of Britain, cold air aloft and warmth at the surface with sun boiling the pot. Today and even yesterday saw the pot lid pop as strong thunderstorms erupted, producing dramatic displays of flooding rains, lightning, hail, gusty winds and yes even funnel clouds once again.

While my wife and in-laws travelled across to Edinburgh this morning for Truckfest where skies behaved and remained dry but after about 40 minutes the skies opened and simply didn’t stop. The lack of wind meant that these shows stayed over areas for a few hours before pushing through. The grounds quickly became flooded and we eventually decided to head home after we all got soaked right through.

This wild weather brought more tremendous downpours causing significant flooding, even flash flooding, dazzling lightning displays, hail strong winds as well as multiple funnel cloud sightings. This was forecaste for the past few days and I knew today could produce some significant thunderstorms.

The funnel cloud images being updated to facebook and twitter have been stunning with the most eye catching seen over Glasgow yesterday. The edge of this same storm also darkened our skies dramatically here at my house..
