Over the next 5 days, parts of Africa and the Middle East will see the hottest air of the summer with upper ridging and 850 temps climbing through the roof. This GFS map showing expected temps shows near 120°F temps over parts of Morrocco and Algeria in the western Sahara while another infernal heat core can be seen over the Middle East Deserts where there’s an area stretching from Iraq down the eastern side of Saudi through Kuwait and extending into the UAE where temps are expected to reach 118-122°F.

It’s likely that both NW Africa and the Middle East will see the hottest temps of summer 2012 with 122°F possible in Morrocco and Algeria while such areas as Al Basrah in southern Iraq, Kuwait City and Al Huhuf in Saudi see temps top 125°F.
