Worst Of Southeast US Heat Comes Saturday, Atlanta Shooting For 107°

While yesterday’s blowtorch seemed and likely felt off the charts and for many it was, the crazy thing is, Saturday will be hotter and likely the peak of this heatwave.

The 850 temps are warmer directly over the Southeast on Saturday and so such cities as Atlanta should surpass their current 105° all-time record with a high probably aiming at 107°. Those cities in the Carolinas which topped the hottest ever, well you guys well just beat those numbers again and both the Carolinas all-time state records could be threatened tomorrow.

The good news though is the ECMWF shows the cool down beyond Monday. We should see Atlanta top 100° up till Monday and then slowly cooler through next week as the heat reloads back west over the Rockies where we may get another one or two days over 100° again in Denver. The Plains looks darn hot throughout next week while troughiness settles over both coasts.
